On August 13, 2012, APILSA signed on in support of an amicus curiae brief and Position Statement filed by the Asian Pacific American Legal Center (APALC), a member of the Asian American Center for Advancing Justice (Advancing Justice). The brief urges the U.S. Supreme Court to decide in favor of race-conscious admissions programs in higher education in the case Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin.  More than 70 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) organizations across the nation, including APILSA at UCLA Law, signed on in support of the brief.

Congratulations Judge Nguyen!

On July 16, 2012, in Special Announcements, by admin

APILSA would like to congratulate Judge Jacqueline Nguyen in making history! APILSA was extremely excited when the Senate confirmed Judge Jacqueline Nguyen (a UCLA School of Law alum!) making her the first Asian-American woman to serve on a Federal Appeals Court and is even more excited for the achievements she is sure to accomplish in the future.  Judge Nguyen has a distinguished career having worked at the US attorney’s office in Los Angeles and having served as a Superior Court Judge before being nominated to serve as a federal judge.

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our newly redesigned APILSA Website!  Please stay tuned for events, special announcements updates as we work our way through a promising year.  Alternative, our Google Cal is also an excellent way to stay updated with our current events.

APILSA serves as a resource and support network for law students to thrive academically, socially, and professionally.  APILSA coordinates numerous events and activities that educate and inform members about current Asian Pacific Islander issues, and prepares members to manage such issues in both academic and professional settings.  APILSA also provides a common forum for expressing members’ needs and concerns as API law students.

Please email apilsa@lawnet.ucla.edu for further information or with questions & concerns.
